Father Winter Has Arrived

...And we are all grounded! Good lord, it's cold here! -10 and that doesn't even include the nice little wind chill we've got here. Now I will profess my preference for cold weather over hot weather any day but this is ridiculous. My eyelashes froze on the way home from the train and my scarf and hat did too! Here's a pic of me on the way home...so cold.
(Notice the icy yarn, please)

And not to sound bitter or cold, no pun intended, but everyone in Ohio who is complaining about the weather at least you can get in your car and drive where ever you need to go. Unfortunately, my coat is nice and down but I don't have a portable heater underneath it all. (I did have 3 layers on bottom and 5 layers on top plus the long coat) and I still was cold. Enough complaining, I chose to move here...Here are a few pictures I took from around the city.

Frozen Bikes not going anywhere.
Pigeons hogging the heat lamp at the el station.
Catholic church near my apartment.

I'm hoping that I'll take better snowy pictures once it warms up, but that's all I got now. And oh yeah my first week of second semester wasn't too bad...no crying on the el, yet. And I'll end with a picture of the cat. Sorry if I have already posted a picture of this but it's so cute.
Take care and stay warm! xo Amber

Great pictures of the winter in Chicago. I'll look forward to more- I am greedy. Stay warm- and I won't complain about the cold here- well maybe just not too loudly! Love you! MOM

I love the icy scarf! Reminds me of winters in Minot, ND. The snow looks lovely, but I suppose it is too cold to enjoy it. Warm thoughts!

At least you seem to be well prepared and multi-layered. A few years in Chicago and you will be ready to endure winter anywhere.

Holy crapoly. It was 70 here yesterday. And Reeder rides her bike for hours everyday-she would be devestated with all that snow on it!

Amber,
I know ALL the words to THAT song! It's -20 here today and this past week I've seen it go as low as -28 and that's just the reg. temp, not counting the wind chill! But forever the optimist, I have to say, it could be worse! We have warm clothes and homes and beds. We have warm hearts and warm families and warm food to eat. :) We are sturdy girls, surviving in the heartland and livin' the dream! We may be a bit shivery, but we rock!! :) From one chilly chic to another...big warm hugs!

It's cold here too, and some parts of Oklahoma are iced over like last year, but thankfully, we are not. Bob made it in to town today. And keep your fingers crossed, no power outage for us yet! [4 days in Dec. of 07]

Hang in there, kid! What are your classes this semester?
