There's no place like Halloween

Happy Fall and Happy Halloween!

Last night I had my first Chicago Halloween, and it was so great! Everyone dresses up in really creative costumes and the streets are packed! (No cabs could be found and there was a long line for the train.) I went out with Jen and Sara from Cincy and friends from grad school. Enjoy the pics!

Dorothy and Todo

Amanda and Jen as Not-a-Happy Camper and a Bunny

Me and Jen at her house before going out.

Me and my new friend, Kathryn, from grad school.

Sara and Jen as nun and bunny.

Me, Jen and Sara at Halligan's in Lincoln Park (not quite the Emerald City but it was fun!)

Me and Kathryn out at Halligan's. (The neck of my dress was ridiculously high and I was mistaken for a Mormon, so I found myself educating the yuppies of Lincoln park on childhood stories they apparently missed.)

Me and Reilly (as Indiana Jones) another new grad school friend.

And now that Halloween and done with, it seems that every store and everyone has moved on to Christmas.

You look adorable! Not at all like a Mormon! Looks like you guys had a great time!

And don't you hate it how every store is already decorated for Christmas? I have such an issue with being force fed my holidays before I'm ready. America doesn't seem to accept the fact that the world will not come to a crashing halt if there is actual space and time between acknowledging and decorating for holidays!

I love the costume- and Toto looks so glad to go to a Halloween party. And it looks like so much fun.
So especially thanks for the pics! MOM

Yes, I'm glad I didn't dress up as Dorothy this year. Gigi wouldn't very well fit in a basket.

Glad you had fun. NYC is pretty boring on Halloween. No parties or parades here...

I love the costume! The folks at the bar probably couldn't see the dead give-away ruby red slippers. Glad you had so much fun. Las Vegas is pretty quiet around Halloween ;).

On the other hand, San Francisco is pretty crazy at Halloween, but your Mom and I are older than dirt and Halloween in SF is for the young and adventurous. We did see some of the costumes that were worn down on Castro and they weren't exactly the same style you had in your pictures. There is one part of the folks in this city that really enjoy Halloween and view the opportunity to dress in outlandish stuff as a chance to be normal.
